đ„ THE PRYBIRDS ENTER THE STUDIO FOR EMBER OF EMPIRE
A New Chapter Ignites in Denver with Riffuge North and Kindred Spirits in Sound
DENVER, CO â The PryBirds, Denverâs genre-warping industrial-doom collective, are officially back in the studio working on their next full-length project: Ember of Empire. This marks the groupâs most ambitious and emotionally charged work to date, fusing deep sonic experimentation with themes of collapse, resilience, and spiritual combustion.
Recording has begun at Riffuge North, a newly established production studio in Denver built in partnership with Riffuge Studios (Dallas) and their creative allies Altars of Aether. What started as a casual studio connection has now evolved into a full creative alliance. “We didnât just find producersâwe found family,” says lead vocalist Vincent âFlamesâ Krell.
đ§ A STUDIO BUILT FOR REBIRTH
Riffuge North was born from months of collaboration, long drives between Dallas and Denver, and shared visions of creating music that pushes the edge of art, spirituality, and controlled chaos. The studio was literally built from the ground upâgear was trucked in by hand, walls were soundproofed over pizza-fueled all-nighters, and the first demo notes were tracked over a midnight thunderstorm.
“That first night in the studio, there was this wild pressure system building outside,â recalls Eliza “Torch” Navarro (lead guitar). âEvery note we played felt electric, like the sky was playing with us. We laid down the riff for what became the opening of âCinders of the Machineââand then the power blew. We took it as a sign.â
đ„ BIRTHING THE BLAZE
Though the albumâs release is still months away, early writing sessions suggest Ember of Empire will be a cathartic fusion of doom, industrial, and cinematic post-metal with raw emotional and lyrical themes. The PryBirds have always leaned into sonic chaos, but this project feels more layered, more intentional, and deeply personal.
âThere was one day where Glitch had built this glitched-out choir sample that sounded like angels trapped in a corrupted file,â says drummer Darrell “Tank” Boone. âWe looped it under some feedback and just sat thereâsilentâfor like five minutes after it stopped. We cried. Weâve never done that in a session before. It felt like… communion.â

Between sessions, the group has leaned into their creative rituals. Frontman Vincent continues to pen lyrics in a smoke-filled corner lit only by red bulbs and incense. Casey âFlashâ Durant has begun incorporating pyro-timing cues into the pre-production planning. Meanwhile, road chief Kyle âSmokyâ Redman has modified a section of the studio into a staging lab for a massive synchronized fire-and-light rig the band plans to tour with.
âSometimes youâre not just tracking an album,â says synth engineer Marcus “Glitch” Harrow. âYouâre conjuring something.â
